According to iAbrasive latest report, On June 26, a.m., Liying, Dean of Material Science & Engineering Institute in Henan University of Technology, delivered a special report themed "China Superhard Material 50-year Anniversary". The student listened carefully to the report.Above all, Liying made a brief analysis on different period of superhard material development, and explained in detail the shape, usage of superhard materials and how synthetic diamond is made. She said that natural diamond has been made into jewelry since early times. With the development of science and technology, the demand for diamond is ever increasing, and synthetic diamond is not as difficult as it was to be made; diamond of different shapes vary in usage. For instance, diamond saw blade is different from diamond resin grinding wheel. Then Liying analyzed how to make synthetic diamond in three conditions respectively, including high-temperature vacuum, high temperature and high pressure, ultra-high temperature and pressure. At last she pointed out that synthetic diamond output has witnessed a tremendous surge in recent years, among which China synthetic diamond output accounts for 90% of the whole, and high quality diamond has reached advanced level.During the report, professor Li communicated and interacted with students about diamond relevant knowledge, which contributed to heat discussion. The student has gained a better understanding of superhard materials industry which lay the foundation of further study.
