September 17th, China President Mr. Xi Jinping paid a state visit to India. This is the first time that Mr. Xi Jinping has visited India after he was elected as the China President. His first stop in India is to be Gujarat, hometown of the new India Prime Minister Mr. Modi. And today is the birthday of Mr. Modi. Mr. Xi Jinping will meet with Mr. Modi in Ahmedabad, the capital city of Gujarat State and the traditional commercial city of India. It is also the first time that Mr. Modi came back to Gujarat after being elected as the new Prime Minister. And he will spend his 64th birthday there.
Since last year, there has been frequent communication between Chinese and Indian leaders. In July of this year, Mr. Xi Jinping and Mr. Modi has just met with each other in BRICS Leaders Meeting in Brazil. Last year in May, Chinese Premier Mr. Li Keqiang has firstly chosen India and Pakistan for visit; after Mr. Modi became the new prime minister of India, Li was the first foreign leader to call for congratulation. Chinese Ambassador to India Le Yucheng said, during Mr. Xi Jinping’s visit in India, the two countries are expected to sign nearly 20 agreements in the fields of trade, investment, finance and infrastructure. The visit will also lead Gujarat to become the sister state of Guangdong province, and Ahmedabad, the capital city of Gujarat, will be the sister city of Guangzhou. As the plot of reform and opening, Guangdong has the earliest special economic zones. Gujarat has a high degree of industrialization. It keeps blooming under the circumstance that the whole India is still thriving economic downturn. Therefore, Gujarat is also known as the second Guangdong in India.
As the vanguard of economic development in India, with no accident, Gujarat will usher in Chinese industrial park. The more practical areas of cooperation between Guangdong and Gujarat may involve infrastructure of railways, highways and other construction and communications. Among those investment projects in Gujarat, a large number of them may come from Guangdong. This joint development has not only opened the door for Chinese companies to explore India market, but also proved that India is having vast market prospects and development potential. For Chinese companies who want to make a difference in the Indian market, especially those enterprises from Guangdong, this is to be the very greatest opportunity.
